The first urban Cellar Door for Handpicked Wines has recently been completed in the Kensington Street precinct of Sydney.

DesignOffice worked with the client to conceive a new concept which blends a cellar door retail experience with a sophisticated wine lounge.

The original brick warehouse was stripped back and layered with a palette of solid oak, galvanised metal, leather and granite.

A flexible timber merchandising system lines the perimeter of the primary space to create a rich and textured backdrop to the custom-made wine tasting counters.

Beyond the main wine lounge, guests are welcomed to the Handpicked Experience Room where a vaulted ceiling defines an intimate tasting environment with wine being sampled directly from the barrel. This flagship cellar door has been designed as a scaleable model to enable future expansion across a range of sites.
